History in Golf Management
Richard Barnes, a Golf Management veteran, has had a remarkable career. He began by managing the Moreland Road Golf Center’s range and 9-hole Par 3 Course. As part of Storms Golf Inc., he played key roles in the success of Brookfield Hills, an 18-hole Executive Golf Course, and St. John’s Northwestern, a 9-hole Executive Golf Course. Barnes also managed Storms on Bluemound, overseeing the driving range and introducing Miniature Golf.
His golfing prowess extended to the US Open, where he was a Runner Up in the 1979 Regional Qualifying Round and repeated the feat in the 2011 Senior Open Regional Qualifying Round. Beyond competition, Barnes organized partner golf outings, emphasized the joy of couples playing golf together, and arranged Hole-in-One events for charities. His commitment to community extended to Rockwell Automation’s United Way Campaign. Throughout his career, Richard Barnes not only shaped golf courses but also fostered a sense of community and philanthropy in the golfing world.
Maria and Richard have been married for over 38 Years with 3 beautiful children, Ian, Marina (Ben) and Zoe.
